God is increasing our little group on both sides of the world.  Our prayer is each one of these treasures will reflect the love of Jesus in the part of the world  they will serve.

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Pro 22:6

Treasures of the Heart is not an adoption agency, we do not promote adoption. Prospective team members are told, "If adoption is the reason you are wanting to go, we are sorry, but we cannot take you."

Our mission and belief is, we are called to stand in the gap for children, "And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it" Eze 22:30. Our heart's desire is to help the children, wherever we find them, become the BEST Russian, Georgian, Indian, or African children they can be.  God is raising an army of Christians in these countries, preparing them to take over the job of caring for the unwanted.  Until they can take the lead, we will help them.

However, there are times when we find God has a plan.  These are some of the "plans".

While Kaylin is waiting for her mommy and daddy, she is growing stronger.

Kaylin met her mom on our Dental Mission to Vladimir, Russia.  Treva accompanied us as a dental assistant.  On her "free" day, she joined us as we took gifts to the Baby House.  Treva spotted this frail, premature, red-headed little girl behind a glass in the isolation room.  While the remaining team played with all the toddlers, Treva's heart was being stolen.  Just imagine when Treva called home and said, "Kyle, I've found our treasure."  What a step of faith on his part his part when he did not hesitate, "Can you bring her home?"

She learned Kaylin was born several weeks premature, and was suffering from multiple health problems.  She needed a mom, too. Our friend, Dr. Sergey, has been watching over Kaylin. Oksana, Dr. Sam's translator, has been going by to hug and love on her since we returned to America. She has had two surgeries to correct problems which were keeping her from gaining weight.  Treva and Kyle have been providing the quality food little Kaylin requires.  We were shocked at the weight gain and gleam in her eyes shown in the 2 new photos on the right.

Russian rules save the first 6 months of a baby's life for the chance a Russian family can adopt, but they could see this was a match made in heaven.  We are trusting she will be here before Valentine's Day!

The Russian doctors feared Kaylin maybe deaf.  She did not do well on her hearing tests.  Since she arrived in USA, she has been tested from head to toes (all ten of them).  Her problem was chronic ear infections, so treatment has been on going since February.  The fluid behind her ear drums has not gone away.  She was scheduled to have tubes placed in her ear drums on Monday.  Thursday she went for her pre op check.  The doctor looked in her ears and proclaimed the miracle...no fluid!  It was a small procedure, some would say, "No big deal."  But to new parents, it is the biggest deal.  We are thanking God for his mercy for this child.

Kaylin as of May 2004,
a proud American!

September 11, 2001 impacted the world and our mission trip was no exception.

Meet our youngest team member, Olivia.  She traveled to Finland, Stockholm, Estonia, St
Petersburg, Moscow, Vladimir, Voronezh, and London when she was -11 weeks old.  She surprised us with an early birthday, by 3 weeks, on December 8th. Treasures can claim her because her dad, Stefan, was on a Treasures mission to take chemo to Russia.  We were all in Russia and could not meet his plane when it arrived in Dallas.  He called Tanisha and asked if she could give him a ride home (just drive 150 miles to the airport and drive him 320 miles home), not much to ask.  They dated long distance for 6 months, then it was time for his next mission to Russia.  As we boarded the train for the 12 hour trip to Moscow on 9-11-01, the only thing he worried about was, "Is Tanisha going to be OK?" One month after our return, we had a wedding!Update on

Our Favorite Photo from the Winter 2001 Trip

We had no idea, when Howard took this photo in February 2001, Li'l Wet Pants, and his friend on the right, would be coming home with us one year later.  While America was in chaos on 9-11-01, we were with these kids in Voronezh. Chip fell in love with Sara and Laurie was gaga over Gabriel. We later found out, Gabe, a most beautiful little boy, had been abandoned in a bag at the city morgue. What a testimony he will have of the love of Jesus.
An "unreasonable" set of events made it possible for them to come home in less than 6 months. The family Chip and Laurie had been denied for so many years, was made complete by two very lively toddlers.
Allison and Lynn were at the time in their lives where two new toddlers in their family wasn't even on the radar screen. Allison home schooled her two children...more children, I don't think so. BUT, Allison joined us, on what we have begun calling our "September 11th Trip". Despite all the turmoil and fear for our families in America, canceling the remaindered of our mission trip to the Republic of Georgia, trying to find a way out of Russia, waiting in England for a flight home...Allison could not get little Kola from her mind.
Ten days later we arrived home and Allison told Lynn about Kola.  On his own, Lynn bravely boarded a plane and went to Russia to meet Kola.  Not only did he fall in love with him, he met little Kiah...now there were TWO kids!
Allison and Lynn returned a short time later to pick them up.  On their court day, the magnitude of the step they were taking hit Allison, and fear set in.  She asked Lynn, "Do we really need these children?"  Lynn, a Godly man, did not hesitate replying, "No, Allison, we don't need them...they need us."  Both are now thriving with their new family.
