Treasures provides seeds and potato starts for Barskoe Gorodische Orphanage. The vegetables grown from American seeds, in the garden on the orphanage grounds, have been so wonderful, government officials came to see the huge vegetables. The first crop of Vidalia onions was so impressive, they were stolen. Guards were then posted to watch the fields.
We were heart sick last year when we got word that their entire crop of potatoes were stolen from the field! Unfortunately, the potato field is several kilometers from the orphanage.
On our arrival, Alexander Vasilevich, the director, gave us this season's bad news. Barskoe had gone 75 days without rain. As a result, the potatoes were very small and fewer in number. The photo below shows the potato cellar that should be filled by this time of year.
We felt the need to go to the potato field, seeking God's protection over this field and next year's harvest. The surrounding fields were full of pickers. They paused and watched, as Alex and his wife, Tatyana, our team, and the field director prayed for this field.
Please join us in claiming this field and crop for the Glory of God, and the nourishment of the children. We want the abundance of next year's crop to be a witness to the pickers, and the field director, of God's love for those orphans.
